On the eve of the saint Nicolas’ feast, the brethren presented gifts to kids

A man of faith can prove love to a neighbor by serving the latter: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Therefore, in the history of Christianity, prayers are offered up in the monasteries, the afflicted are welcomed and alms are given to the glory of God.
The Social Department of the Kiev-Caves Lavra has no days-off and holidays, when the brethren leave their obedience. They always serve a neighbor, help everyone, warming up people’s hearts, supporting spiritually with a prayer and with pastoral guidance, and if needed with silent sympathy. No one of those sent from God leaves with empty hands.
The brethren of the Social Department have visited one of the divisions of the children’s Ohmatdet hospital, talked to kids, the patients of the hospital, their parents, brought necessary medicines, and became convinced once again that the main thing for a person is curing his soul, and then God gives relief of physical infirmities.
Many know that the Social Department delivers necessary aid. The sick, the disabled, those in difficult straits usually come here. Lonely women raising children on their own, forced migrants often come. Also, people with different physical illnesses come on a wheel-chair. No one is left without spiritual consoling or let go empty-handed. The kids’ smiles, gathering clothing and shoes, finding toys for kids and endowing with sweeties is of special pleasure for the brethren.
