On Tuesday of the Week of the Veneration of the Cross, the Sacred Archimandrite of the Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, His Beatitude Onuphry, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, tonsured members of the monastery brotherhood into the mantle. The rite of tonsure was performed in the Lavra church dedicated to St. Agapitus of the Caves.

The newly tonsured monks received names in honor of the Venerable Fathers of the Caves: the monk Apollos was given the name Achila, Avvakum — Sisoes, the monk Enoch — Avramius, and the novice Tikhon — Longinus.

After the tonsure, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry addressed the newly tonsured monks with words of instruction, after which they were greeted by the hierarchs and the brotherhood of the Lavra.
