The teaching of Christ surpasses all other knowledge, and whoever lives by the Spirit will find within it the hidden manna, unseen by the worldly mind. Yet many, though they hear the Gospel often, barely taste its true depth—because they do not have the Spirit of Christ. But anyone who truly wants to understand Christ’s words—deeply and sweetly—must shape their whole life to follow Him.

Will lofty debates about the Holy Trinity really benefit you? Without humility, you will not be found worthy of the Most Holy Trinity. In truth, grand words do not make a person holy or righteous; only a life of virtue makes one acceptable to God. I would rather gain wisdom through a contrite heart than through clever speech. Even if someone had memorised all of Scripture and the writings of every philosopher, what good would it do without the grace and mercy of God?
