The solemn divine service performed on the square in front of the Dormition Cathedral

 

25 years ago, the most important event in the Orthodox world took place. Upon God’s Providence, for saving the Church in Ukraine, the Orthodox archbiships gathered in Kharkiv to carry out the Bishop’s Council. Its decisions defined further development of the sole canonic Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The anniversary festivities, which began in Kharkiv on March, 27, this year, have continued on the memory day of the saint fathers of the First Ecumenical Council. The solemn divine services, gathering archpriests and cleric from different corners of Ukraine and the world, were performed in the heart of the Orthodox faith, Kievan Rus, and its main sanctuary, the Holy Dormition Kiev-Caves Lavra.
