The Head of UOC led celebrations on Day of Far Caves’ Fathers


On the day of special veneration of the Kiev-Caves’ fathers who rest in peace in the Far Caves, the divine services were led by the Holy Archimandrite of the monastery, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onuphrius. The night before, the Leader of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church performed the all-night vigil in the Dormition Cathedral.

His Beatitude was joined in service by the Vicegerent of the Kiev-Caves Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl; the Head of the UOC Administration, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary; Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Archbishop Damian of Fastov, Bishop Eusebius of Shepetovka and Slavutych, Bishop Victor of Baryshevka; the Rector of Kiev Theological Schools, Bishop Sylvester of Belogorodka, Bishop Dionysius of Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi, Bishop Ambrose of Zgurovka as well as the brethren and guests of the monastery in the holy rite. His Eminence Vicegerent Metropolitan Pavel performed the lity.

On the very feast day, according to the tradition during all divine services in the Lavra, the augmented prayers for the repose of all deceased brethren of the Holy Caves Monastery are offered.

Upon the end of the late Liturgy, the hierarchs, priests, brethren of the Kiev Caves Lavra and all the praying led by the Head of the UOC held the Cross procession to the Far Caves. On the square in front of the Far Caves at the Church of the Conception of St. Anna, a prayer service was performed, after which all participants of the celebration were sprinkled with the holy water, and the consecrated cathedral was sung longevity.
