On the day of one of the Twelve feast of Transfiguration of our God and Savior Jesus Christ, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius of Kyiv and All Ukraine performed the Divine Liturgy joined in service by the Vicegerent of the Lavra, metropolitan Pavel, in the Dormition Cathedral. The evening before, the Primate led the night vigil in the same church. During the vigil, His Beatitude was co-serviced by the Vicegerent of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Caves Lavra, metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chornobyl; the rector of Kyiv Theological Schools, metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary; archbishop Kliment of Irpin; bishop Victor of Baryshivka as well as the brethren of the monastery in the holy rite. Also, the night service of the brethren was led by metropolitan Agapitus in the Refectory Church of the monastery.

After reading the Gospel during the LIturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius turned to the parish with the sermon speech narrating about the feast of Transfiguration and about the way this event was described by the Gospel writers in the books of the Holy Scripture.

“Human is created for contemplation of the beauty of Divinity…”

During the Liturgy, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius fulfilled the priest consecration. Besides, the fervent prayers for peace in Ukraine were raised. Upon the end of the Liturgy, His Beatitude read the prayer to bless the grape and then perfused the offerings and all the praying by the consecrated water.
