Aid to children in Kiev distict from Lavra’s Welfare Department

043Aid to children in Makariv region and families with many children in Morozivka village from the Lavra Social Department

The brethren of the Social Department of the Kiev-Caves Lavra always try to visit as many of its wards as possible during the first days of September.

The first days of the new academic year bring the joy of meeting with the school as well as the known preparations and material costs to children and to their relatives, especially for the families with numerous children. Before the beginning of the academic year, the brethren of the Social Department of the Kiev-Caves Lavra visited children whose families need help the most.

029The local archpriest John and the inhabitant of the Caves monastery, hierodeacon Philaret paid the most attention to the families living in the Makariv region of Kyiv oblast. Those hosting the guests from the Lavra were the families with many children, families with ailing children and families where there is only one parent.

Archimandrite Aretha and priest Nicolas came to Morozivka village where the families with many children also live. Regardless of different material conditions, all these children received gifts from the Lavra, and the priests had time to talk and to give advice to bring life into accordance with God’s commandments and to trust in His grace. The families were presented icons after the talk.001

Each family received stationery, children’s theological literature, learning games, toys, sweeties and non-perishable goods from the priests, which are of use for the pupils and the “under-fives”. All the hosts were certainly glad to welcome the dear guests and invited them to come as often as possible.
