On the second Sunday of the Great Lent, the memory of all the Venerable Fathers of the Caves is honored. On the eve of this great feast of the Kyiv-Caves Lavra, the conciliar all-night vigil was celebrated in the Dormition Cathedral of the Monastery, led by the Holy Archimandrite of the Monastery, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Onuphrius.

The Head of the UOC was co-served by archpriests headed by the Vicegerent of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl as well as guests and brethren in the holy rite.

The Vicegerent of the Kyiv-Caves Lavra, His Eminence Pavel performed the festive lity with a prayer appealing to all the Fathers of the Caves by name.There was also a fraternal all-night vigil performed in the Church of Venerable Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves with the Refectory Chamber. The Divine Service was led by the Dean of the Monastery, Archimandrite Anthony, and the lity was led by the warden of the Near Caves, Archimandrite John. On the very day of the feast, Archimandrite Damian, the warden of the Far Caves, performed the Liturgy in the same church.

After Gospel reading in the Great Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius of Kyiv and All Ukraine addressed the archpastoral speech to the worshipers, recalling the importance of spiritual fasting. The Head of the UOC also spoke about the Uncreated Light, the purity of which has been defended by the great advocate of Orthodoxy, Saint Gregory Palamas. This Taboric Light as assured by Metropolitan Onuphrius was also seen by the Venerable Fathers of the Caves.

Traditionally, on this day, the clergy of the Lavra were honored liturgical awards. Upon the service, the cross procession followed to the Far Caves, where the Primate of the UOC read a prayer to all the Venerables of the Caves, whereafter the holy saints were sung glorification, and the worshipers were sprinkled with holy water.
