The Holy Martyr Metropolitan Vladimir (Bogoyavlensky) performed the feat of confessing faith in Christ relatively recently, about one hundred years ago, and was canonised in our time and rests with his incorruptible relics among the first Monk Fathers of Kievan Rus’. Like the ancient Pechersk Fathers, he spent the last days of his earthly life in the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, where he offered his ascetic life to God as a gift, remaining faithful until his martyrdom.

On the eve of the day on which the martyrdom of St Vladimir of Kiev (Bogoyavlensky) is commemorated, in the Lavra church of St Agapit of Pechersk a fraternal vigil with a festive litia was celebrated.

On the feast day itself, the Divine Liturgy in the same church was celebrated by Bishop Arkady of Gostomelsk in the co-service of the clergy, headed by Archimandrite Hilarion.

At the conclusion of the festivities, the assembly of clergy sang the veneration before the feast icon, after which a prayer was read to the holy martyr Vladimir.
