In the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary is celebrated annually with special solemnity. One of the ancient underground churches of the monastery is dedicated to this great feast of the Theotokos. Although the event commemorated in the life of the Most Holy Virgin Mary is not mentioned in the Holy Scripture, the celebration of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Jerusalem Temple has been observed since the 4th century based on the Church’s Tradition.

On the eve of the feast, the Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, led the All-Night Vigil with a festive lity in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

During the service in the Lavra’s Church of St. Agapitus of the Caves, the Holy Archimandrite of the monastery was concelebrated by the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Antony of Boryspil and Brovary, Bishop Lavr of Irpin, Bishop Mark of Borodyanka, and the brethren and visiting clergy of the monastery.
