Solemn celebrations were held in the very heart of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Caves Lavra on the joint anniversary of being the Head of UOC, the 75th birthday and the name day of the Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius of Kiev and All Ukraine .

In the evening before the commemoration of St. Onuphrius the Great, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphrius performed the night vigil in the Great church.

On the square in front of the Holy Dormition Cathedral the Divine Liturgy was performed. His Beatitude was joined by Vicegerent of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Caves Lavra metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chornobyl and other permanent members of the Holy Synod of the UOC as well as the array of the archpriests, the Lavra clergy and the Monastery guests in the holy rite.

His Beatitude was concelebrated by the hierarchs of the Local Orthodox Churches: Metropolitan and Exarch Sergius of Singapore and South-East Asia, Metropolitan Meletios of Carthage (the Church of Alexandria), Metropolitan Timotheos of Vostra (the Church of Jerusalem), Bishop Anthony of Moravia (the Church of Serbia), Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech (the Church of Bulgaria), Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamasos (Church of Cyprus), Bishop Paul Gainovsky (the Church of Poland), Archbishop Michael of Prague (the Czech Church), Metropolitan Anthony of Corsun (Patriarchal Exarchate of ROC in Western Europe), metropolitans, archpriests, and bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church; Archimandrite Jerome (Piliotis) and Hieromonk Barnabas (Chrysanth) (the Church of Cyprus), Archpriest Ljubomir Kazashki (the Church of Bulgaria), Archpriest Andrei Levchak (the Church of Poland), Archpriest Nazariy Polataiko (the Orthodox Church in America), Hierodeacon Dimitrian (Chris), monastic and other guests in holy rite. Students of Kiev theological schools, numerous pilgrims and parishioners of the Kiev-Pechersk Monastery also prayed at the Divine Service.

Upon reading the Gospel during the Liturgy, the Primate delivered a sermon to the parish and pilgrims in the Lavra, narrating of the life path and acts of venerable Onuphrius the Great, honored on this day.
