Fourth Sunday after Pascha: The Sunday of the Paralytic
On the fourth Sunday after Pascha, the Holy Church calls the faithful to remember the wondrous healing by our Lord Jesus Christ of the paralytic who had lain grievously ill for almost forty years.
On this Sunday, the Divine Liturgy (and on the preceding evening, the All-Night Vigil) in the Lavra church dedicated to our venerable Father Agapitus of the Caves was presided over by Metropolitan Antony of Boryspil and Brovary, Administrator of the UOC, concelebrating with Archimandrite Antony, spiritual father of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, together with the brethren and guests of the monastery in sacred rank.
Following the воскресное Gospel reading, Metropolitan Antony recounted the history of the healing of the paralytic and spoke on the causes and consequences of illness.
The early Liturgy in the church of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Joy of All Who Sorrow” was presided over by Archimandrite John, guardian of the Near Caves, concelebrating with the monastery clergy.
During all the services in the churches of the Lavra, special petitions were offered for the granting of peace and tranquillity in our Ukrainian land, for deliverance from every enemy and adversary, and for God’s blessing upon those who receive into their homes those who have been compelled to leave their native dwellings.
