On the day commemorating the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow,” as well as the memory of Venerable Arefa (12th century), Sisoes (13th century), and Theophilus (12th-13th centuries), hermits of the Caves, the church feast is celebrated at the Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

One of Lavra’s churches is dedicated to the Mother of God icon “Joy of All Who Sorrow.” According to an ancient unwritten Pechersk tradition, Venerable Nicholas Svyatosha, in the 12th century, gave this name to the Icon in honour of the appearance of the Most Holy Sovereign Lady, the Theotokos, to those suffering in the holy monastery. Through Her prayers, the incurably ill received healing.
