On the eve of the great feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl celebrated the All-Night Vigil at a skete of the Lavra. During the service, the Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was concelebrated by the monastery’s clergy, headed by the skete’s superior, Archimandrite Pimen.

On the feast day itself, Metropolitan Pavel celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Pozniaky, in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi District.

The history of the area dates back to the 17th century. A village called Pozniakovshchyna, located on the left bank of the Dnieper River, is mentioned in documents dating from 1635. Later, the area became part of the possessions of the Kyiv Brotherhood Monastery.

The Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Pozniaky, which today has become a true adornment of Kyiv, also traces its history back to the same period. On the site where the new church has now been restored, a church dedicated to the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple was built.
